Essay writing competition

To observe the 'Road Safety Month' (Month of July), sub-center partner of Vellore Childline project - The Hope House, is conducting an essay writing competition for the adolescents and the rules are as follows:


  • Theme of the Essay: My role in addressing the challenges of under-age driving in India 

  • Languages to be written in:  Tamil and English

  • Maximum word limit: 750 words

  • Age group: 14 years to 17 years (boys and girls) as of August 15th 2018.

  • Domicile:  Must be a Vellore district resident and attending school/ college in Vellore district.

How this competition works?  

  • Phase I: you should download this form, fill up the information asked and send it along with your essay, either by post (to the address given below, whatsapp (9629471920) or to an email address before 11:59 PM on July 31st.  Without this form, essay will not be considered for the competition.   

  • 60 winners (3 winners per block) will be announced on August 14th.         

  • Phase II:  60 winners of phase I will be given training and tools (to become childline volunteers) to reach out to their peers and community stakeholders from September 1st to October 31st in their own community.  

  • Three winners will be chosen based on the qualitative and quantitative performance of the students.

  • Prizes to be given are as follows:

* School/ Institution will receive cash equivalent Gifts.

Final prize winners of phase II will be announced in the first week of November and prizes will be distributed at a function to be held on November 14th (children's day).
