Project YUVA

Project YUVA is a program built as an alliance between Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore and the the Hope House (THH), Vellore.  This alliance came into existence through a memorandum of understanding signed on May 27th of 2019.  'YUVA' in 'Project YUVA' is an acronym that stands for 'Young people Understanding & Verbalizing Adolescence".  They (10 to 24 year old) form the largest block of people with immense potential and challenges.  They are the most misunderstood group of individuals.  This page is to give them the right information to help them make the right choices.

Recognizing their immense potential along with the challenges that they face, Government of India had launched an exclusive program for the adolescents called "Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram" or RKSK.  In RKSK, there are six strategic priorities namely

  1. Nutrition

  2. Sex & Reproductive health

  3. Mental Health

  4. Prevent Injuries & Violence

  5. Prevent Substance Misuse and

  6. Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD's)
